Self-Care for the End of the Denver Nuggets Season

Friends, I have to tell you that I’m sad to see this Denver Nuggets season go away after the team (and Aaron Gordon with his poor hamstring) fought so hard against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With a little more time on my hands not watching games and all of these feelings to process, I’ve been doing a lot of walking, and a little bit more self-care.

I thought I’d share some of my favorite urban walks in Denver, as well as my secret self-care getaway.

If you’d like to go on one of these walks to check out houses in the neighborhood, please call / email / text and we can talk!

Cheeseman Park

Neighborhood: Capitol Hill

Size: Medium

Nearby Nosh: Liks Ice Cream

Bonus: Denver Botanic Gardens for your calm

If you’re looking for natural beauty in an urban setting, this is the park walk for you. Grab an ice cream at old Denver institution Liks ice cream, and consider dropping in to the Botanic gardens to spend time in the Zen garden taking deep breaths.

Sloans Lake

Neighborhood: Sloans Lake / Jefferson Park / Highlands / Edgewater

Size: Big

Nearby Nosh: US Thai Cafe

Bonus: Alamo Drafthouse for a movie

If Denver had a coastline it would be a perfect place, but walking around the water at Sloans does OK as a stand-in. This is one of my favorites because there are always a ton of dogs out for their daily stroll.

Cranmer Park

Neighborhood: Hilltop

Size: Small

Nearby Nosh: Olive & Finch

Bonus: The Sundial for a cool art installation

This is a wonderful park to bring a picnic and sit away from the bustle of Cherry Creek, with a vista that fits its former name “Mountain View Park.”

Wash(ington) Park

Neighborhood: Washington Park

Size: Big

Nearby Nosh: Wash Perk

Bonus: Architecture for an inspiring walk

For a house geek like me, Wash Park offers some of the best and most varied viewing in the Denver metro area. It’s also got a lake, excellent nearby food options, and plenty of people watching opportunity to take your mind off things.

Self-Care Secret Getaway

Indulgences Day Spa on Federal Boulevard

While they have all the services you’d expect from a day spa, my two favorite things about Indulgences is that they have a steam room that you can use before your service, and their gift shop is always well stocked with self-care presents if you need a gift or a quick pick-me-up.
